Fuelling That Creative Bug: Exploring the Elora Fergus Studio Tour

This past weekend I had the joy of gathering with a few members of my Artful membership for our second Artful Crawl. We decided to spend the day in Elora, Ontario, a town overflowing with creativity, charm, and inspiration. Between the perfect fall weather, the Elora Fergus Studio Tour, and the Elora Centre for the Arts, it truly felt like the perfect way to recharge that creative spark.

Artists to Meet on the Elora Fergus Studio Tour

Every year, the Elora Fergus Studio Tour invites visitors into the homes and studios of local artists. It’s such a special experience to step inside these creative spaces, meet the artists in person, and see their process up close. This year, we had the chance to explore a mix of painting, sculpture, woodworking, and mixed media — and every stop left us more inspired than the last.

Some of the talented artists we met along the way included:

  • Shirley Al – sculpture that felt both powerful and playful.

  • Rachel Albano – beautiful, expressive abstract painting.

  • Stephen Haigh – incredible marquetry work, full of detail and precision.

  • Carolyn Sharp – bold, inspiring abstract paintings.

  • Grayce Perry – imaginative mixed media pieces that told their own stories.

Each artist welcomed us with warmth, sharing not just their art but their journey. It reminded me how vibrant and connected the creative community in Ontario truly is.

A Town That Breathes Creativity

Elora itself feels like art come to life. The town was decorated with large paper-mâché sculptures, pumpkins, and bursts of fall foliage, which only added to the atmosphere. Every little shop was a treat, and we ended the day with some wonderful dining... proof that inspiration comes in many forms!

Inspiration for Artful and Beyond

When I first launched Artful nearly a year ago, I never imagined it would lead to in-person gatherings like this. It’s exciting to see the community growing not just online but also outside the hub. Experiences like this fuel my own creativity while also sparking new ideas for the membership.

In fact, our Elora trip has already given me ideas for the next Artful Crawl. I’d love to revisit this tour next year and make it even bigger, bringing more members together to explore, connect, and be inspired.

For me, days like this are about more than just looking at art. They’re about building connections, learning from others, and letting new experiences shape our own creative work. I came home with my head full of ideas, a heart full of gratitude, and a renewed excitement for what’s ahead.

Want to Be Part of the Next Adventure?

If you’re craving more inspiration, accountability, and community around your creative practice, that’s exactly what Artful was built for. Inside the hub, we share style boards, resources, feedback, and monthly themes — but as you can see, it also spills out into real life when we gather for Artful Crawls.

I’ll be celebrating Artful’s one-year anniversary soon, and it’s the perfect time to join in. If this sparks something for you, I’d love to welcome you inside.

Until the next adventure!
